Where can your first talent points go?
From your first talent point on, you get one at every level. The first row of each tree is open from the first point; the effects below are for each talent's first rank. The October 15 beta update moves Missile Barrage to the first row of the Arcane tree and makes it a two-point talent; hits from Arcane Missiles now also have a chance to trigger it. Wake of Fire becomes Improved Fire Blast again: it no longer grants a bonus when the Mage kills a target, and it increases the range of Fire Blast. The Wake of Fire entry below shows its effect before the update.
- Arcane
- Wand Specialization (max 2): Increases your damage with Wands by 13%.
- Arcane Focus (max 5): Improves your chance to hit with Arcane spells by 1%.
- Improved Channeling (max 5): Gives you a 20% chance to avoid interruption caused by damage while channeling Arcane Missiles and a 14% chance while casting Arcane Blast.
- Fire
- Wake of Fire (max 2): Reduces the cooldown of your Fire Blast spell by 1 sec. Killing a non-trivial target increases the critical strike chance of your next Fire Blast cast within 30 seconds by 25%.
- Incineration (max 3): Increases the critical strike chance of your Fire Blast, Ice Lance, Arcane Blast, and Scorch spells by 2%.
- Improved Fireball (max 5): Reduces the casting time of your Fireball and Frostfire Bolt spells by 0.1 sec.
- Frost

- Improved Frostbolt (max 5): Reduces the casting time of your Frostbolt spell by 0.1 sec.
- Elemental Precision (max 5): Improves your chance to hit with Frost and Fire spells by 1%.
