WoW Forever gear upgrades: compare the trade-off
Lavishly Jeweled Ring and First Mate Band can both be worn, because fingers are two positions. Lightforge Bracers cannot go on a Priest, because they are plate. Smite's Mighty Hammer and Gold-plated Buckler cannot occupy the same planned set. Open equipment comparison and try the item in the position you mean. The page accepts it or names the conflict.
Can both rings be worn?
Lavishly Jeweled Ring requires level 17 and grants 2 agility and 6 intellect. Gilnid drops it in The Deadmines. First Mate Band requires level 17 and grants 2 stamina and 6 strength. Mr. Smite drops it. Put the jeweled ring on the first finger and the band on the second. Replacing one does not clear the other.
The totals that add across equipped items are strength, agility, stamina, intellect, spirit, armor, attack power, spell power, spell damage and spell healing. Both rings and nothing else add to 6 strength, 2 agility, 2 stamina and 6 intellect. Weapon damage and weapon speed stay on the weapon. Defense, hit and resistances stay on the item that has them. They are not folded into this total.
A level 16 equipment plan cannot equip either ring. At level 17 both fit. Lowering the planned level under the item asks you to remove it first.
Which armor can this class wear?
Cloth, leather, mail and plate are checked against the class. A Priest wears cloth and cannot wear plate. Lightforge Bracers are plate wrists that require level 52, so a Priest is refused. A Warrior wears cloth, leather, mail and plate, so the planner accepts that armor type on a Warrior at level 52 or above; confirm the character’s armor training in game.
Robe of Evocation is cloth chest, level 13, with 4 intellect, 5 spirit and 4 stamina, from Jergosh the Invoker in Ragefire Chasm. A Priest or Mage can wear the cloth. A level 10 plan still cannot keep it. Changing to a class that cannot wear a piece you have equipped is refused until you remove the piece.
Weapon training and shield eligibility are not checked. A racial bonus such as the one in races and class choices is not a training level. A shield can still fail because a two-handed weapon is occupying the main hand, because the level is too low, or because you chose a position the item does not fit.
When does the weapon take both hands?
Smite's Mighty Hammer is a two-handed mace, level 18, from Mr. Smite: 4 agility and 11 strength, plus weapon damage and speed that stay on the weapon. Gold-plated Buckler is an off-hand shield, level 17, from Miner Johnson: 509 armor, 2 agility and 5 stamina.
With the buckler equipped, the hammer is refused until you remove the off-hand. With the hammer equipped, the buckler is refused until you remove the two-handed weapon. You do not get the hammer's strength and the buckler's armor together. Thief's Blade and Smite's Reaver, also from Mr. Smite, are one-hand weapons. They do not by themselves forbid an off-hand. Read the slot. A higher weapon-damage number is not a ranking, because that number is not added into the set total.
Which piece is the upgrade?
A second ring is an addition while the other finger is empty, and a replacement only on a finger that already has a ring. Plate bracers are an option for a Warrior at the required level, and they are unwearable for a Priest. The hammer replaces the main hand and also decides the off-hand. Compare the additive totals after the legal pieces are in place, then open the boss for anything you still need.
Plan those bosses in dungeon loot and upgrade runs, and confirm Gilnid's ring in item sources and crafting uses.
