WoW Forever races and class choices

High Order Skyborne and Windshaper Skyborne have different faction and class choices. High Order is Alliance and can be a Mage. Windshaper is Horde and can be a Shaman. Both can glide. Their long buffs are not the same ability. Compare High Order Skyborne and Windshaper Skyborne in the race and class planner before you lock the character.

Which classes can each race be?

High Order can be Warrior, Hunter, Mage, Rogue or Druid. Windshaper can be Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid or Shaman. A Skyborne Mage is High Order. A Skyborne Shaman is Windshaper. Neither Skyborne race can be a Priest, Paladin or Warlock.

Other lists are just as specific. Dwarves can be Shamans. Undead can be Paladins. Night Elves can be Druids and cannot be Mages. Humans can be Paladins and Mages and cannot be Shamans or Druids. Gnomes can be Warriors, Mages, Rogues, Priests and Warlocks. The planner rejects a race that does not list the class. Racial abilities stay on the race page. They are not points in the class trees.

How do the two Skyborne differ?

Both have Walk on Air: an instant on a 2 minute cooldown that glides downward for 10 seconds while you steer. Both have Wind Blessed, 1% haste to spellcasting, melee and ranged, and Elemental Insight, 5% damage against elementals.

High Order also has Read Ley Line, a 2 second cast on a 2 minute cooldown. It increases health and mana regeneration by 100%. The buff lasts 15 seconds if no ley line is nearby, and 15 minutes if one is found. Windshaper does not have Read Ley Line.

Windshaper also has Skysight, a 0.5 second cast on a 2 minute cooldown. It increases movement and mounted movement speed by 10%. The buff lasts 30 seconds if no elemental convergence is nearby, and 15 minutes if one is found. High Order does not have Skysight.

One buff is regeneration and cares about a ley line. The other is movement speed and cares about an elemental convergence. The racial page does not list coordinates, so the duration in the ability text is the rule you can plan with.

Which numbers change with class?

Wind Blessed stays 1% for every class on either Skyborne race. Gnome Eureka! does not stay one number. It is a 2 minute instant on Gnome. A Mage or Warlock's next 3 damaging abilities cost 50% less mana and deal 10% more damage. A Priest's next 3 damaging or healing abilities cost 15% less mana and deal 10% more damage or healing. A Rogue's next 3 damaging abilities cost 20% less energy and deal 10% more damage. A Warrior's next 3 damaging abilities cost 40% less rage and deal 10% more damage. A Gnome Mage does not get the rage discount. Gnomes have no Hunter, Druid, Paladin or Shaman sentence, because those classes are not on the Gnome list.

Undead Touch of the Grave is also split. Mages, Priests and Warlocks have a 10% chance to drain health, up to 5% of maximum health. Paladins, Rogues and Warriors have a 5% chance, with the same cap. Read the sentence for the class you selected.

Human Sword Specialization is 2% critical strike chance while a sword or two-handed sword is equipped. That is a racial bonus. It is not a weapon-training level, so check your weapon training separately.

What do you set next?

Choose the race whose class list contains your class, then read that race's abilities. Between the Skyborne races, decide whether you need Mage or Shaman, and whether you want Read Ley Line or Skysight. Walk on Air is on both.

Spend class points in talent points, levels and prerequisites. When a weapon or armor piece is the question, use gear upgrades, where armor type, slot and level are checked and weapon training is not.
