WoW Forever druid serpent form: how to unlock it in Wailing Caverns

A druid who wears all five pieces of the Embrace of the Viper set turns into a serpent instead of a cat. The set is the old Wailing Caverns leather known by its “of the Fang” names, and in WoW Forever its full bonus quietly replaces the Cat Form model with a snake. No tooltip mentions the change. Each piece comes from a different Wailing Caverns boss, so every druid farms their own set.
Which boss drops each Fang piece?
All five pieces drop in Wailing Caverns and bind when picked up.
- Armor of the Fang drops from Lord Pythas.
- Leggings of the Fang drop from Lord Cobrahn.
- Belt of the Fang drops from Lady Anacondra.
- Footpads of the Fang drop from Lord Serpentis.
- Gloves of the Fang drop from the Druids of the Fang and other enemies in the caverns.
Players collecting drop records during the beta saw the chest piece far more often than the belt, and the gloves most rarely of all. Expect the gloves and the belt to decide how many runs the set takes.
What do the Embrace of the Viper bonuses do?
The set’s tooltip, as beta players recorded it, lists a bonus for each step from two to five pieces. The four-piece and five-piece effects below match the game’s own spell text.
- Two pieces add 10 Intellect.
- Three pieces add 10 Attack Power.
- Four pieces add Embrace of the Viper: taking damage while at or below 25% health restores 100 health and 100 mana over 5 seconds. It can trigger once every 5 minutes.
- Five pieces add Dream Venom: your melee attacks gain a chance to stun the target for 1 second.
The fifth piece also carries the effect nobody was told about. With all five equipped, Cat Form becomes a serpent. Bear Form keeps its usual shape.
How does the serpent form look and move?
Beta players describe a long snake whose colours follow the druid’s race and chosen look. With Prowl active the serpent lowers itself and slithers along the ground, and in water it swims like a snake. It keeps the cat’s sounds. The change is visual: your damage and abilities still come from Cat Form and the set bonuses above.
The idea is older than Forever. The Druids of the Fang who hold Wailing Caverns already study serpents, and Lord Cobrahn has always shifted into a serpent in the middle of his fight. Forever lets a player druid finish that story.
Which druids can use it?
Any druid who can wear leather can collect the set. In Forever that includes Night Elf and Tauren druids and both Skyborne factions, the High Order and the Windshaper. Wailing Caverns sits in the Barrens, so Alliance druids travel further to reach it.
How many runs should you plan?
Worked example: a level 20 Tauren druid queues for Wailing Caverns with the four bosses in mind. Armor of the Fang from Lord Pythas often arrives on the first run, because it drops most often. The leggings and footpads follow within a few runs. The belt and gloves take longest, and the gloves can come from any Druid of the Fang, so clear the trash on the way instead of skipping it.
Add the five pieces as goals in the Wailing Caverns loot planner so each run shows what is still missing. Compare the set with your current gear in the equipment comparison, and plan your feral points in the druid talent calculator before the fifth piece lands. More hidden rewards are collected in every WoW Forever secret found so far.
