WoW Forever crafting: recipes and missing materials

Two crafts of Elixir of Minor Defense and three crafts of Elixir of Minor Strength need 5 Empty Vials, 5 Silverleaf, 2 Peacebloom and 3 Earthroot. If you already have 1 Empty Vial, you are short 4. Set both recipes in the Alchemy planner, then read the combined rows on crafting materials.

What does each recipe consume?

Elixir of Minor Defense makes 1 elixir from 1 Silverleaf, 1 Peacebloom and 1 Empty Vial. Elixir of Minor Strength makes 1 elixir from 1 Earthroot, 1 Silverleaf and 1 Empty Vial. The vial is an ingredient, not the elixir you keep.

Two defenses need 2 Silverleaf, 2 Peacebloom and 2 Empty Vials. Three strengths need 3 Earthroot, 3 Silverleaf and 3 Empty Vials. The materials page adds by item. Silverleaf is one row at 5. Empty Vial is one row at 5. Peacebloom stays at 2, and Earthroot stays at 3, because each of those herbs is on only one of the recipes. Any shared reagent works the same way: one row, and the total is every recipe's count times that recipe's crafts.

How is the stack you own subtracted?

Enter the owned amount once on that row. Missing is the combined total minus what you own, and it stops at zero. One owned Empty Vial against 5 leaves 4. The page does not subtract the vial once per recipe. Doing that would show 1 missing from the defenses and 2 missing from the strengths, which is 3, and you would still be short a vial.

Track the owned amount for each material separately: with no Silverleaf on hand, all 5 remain to be gathered or bought. Open Empty Vial to see the other Alchemy recipes that consume it. Adding another recipe raises the vial total by that recipe's crafts. It does not reset what you already marked as owned.

These recipes list ingredients and the amount crafted. They do not list who teaches them or a chance to gain a skill point.

What does a profession perk leave unchanged?

Master Chef can add an extra cooking result, at the chance written on that perk. These elixirs are Alchemy, so that chance does not add a second Elixir of Minor Defense and does not shrink the vial row. Bountiful Harvest changes scarce finds from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning. Reagent Economy covers vendor reagents on class abilities and tier 1 camping features. None of those perks rewrite this shopping total. A cooking recipe you add later keeps its own ingredient rows.

What do you gather first?

The shared shortages are Empty Vials and Silverleaf: 4 vials after the one you have, and 5 Silverleaf if you have none. Peacebloom is 2 and Earthroot is 3. An herb trip that covers only one recipe still leaves the other short of Silverleaf and vials. The finished items are Elixir of Minor Defense and Elixir of Minor Strength. Crafting one does not produce the other.
