When you take damage, you have a chance to gain one stack of Crystallizing Anima, decreasing the damage you take by a variable amount, lasting for a variable duration. Taking damage at a variable number stacks has a chance to freeze nearby enemies for a variable duration, increasing damage they take by a variable amount.
