WoW Forever talent changes compared with Classic

Arcane Focus still has five ranks in the same Arcane position, and each Forever rank is a different sentence from Classic. Open Mage class changes on Arcane Focus and read rank 1 before you copy an old build. Use the Forever effect when deciding where to spend your points.

What changed at the same rank?

Arcane Focus rank 1 now improves your chance to hit with Arcane spells by 1%. The Classic sentence reduces the chance the opponent resists your Arcane spells by 2%. Forever ranks 2 through 5 are 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% hit. The Classic sentences are 4%, 6%, 8% and 10% resist reduction. Same maximum, different effect. A Classic 10% at rank 5 is not the Forever rank.

The page marks that talent as an effect change. A different mark means the talent moved. Wand Specialization still increases wand damage by 13% at rank 1 and still has two ranks. Its mark is the move. A move is not a new effect, and an effect change is not a new maximum unless the rank lists differ. Plan around the Forever effect; the Classic comparison explains what your old allocation assumed.

What if the Classic talent is gone?

A removed talent is absent from the Forever tree. The spell it used to improve can still be in the spellbook.

Improved Battle Shout is gone from the Warrior tree. Classic rank 1 increased Battle Shout's melee attack power bonus by 5%, and Classic had five ranks of that talent. You cannot spend points in it now. Battle Shout remains. Rank 1, at level 1, increases party members' melee attack power by 12 within 20 yards and lasts 3 minutes. Later ranks are on the spell. Leaving the talent unspent does not remove the shout and does not grant the old 5%.

Improved Immolate is likewise absent from the Warlock tree. Immolate remains, rank 1 at level 1: 10 Fire damage, then another 15 over 15 seconds. Check Warrior class changes for the removed names, then open the spell you still cast. Removed weapon-specialization talents are missing talent rows. They are not weapon-training levels, so check weapon training separately before planning the weapon.

How do you rebuild the points?

Start from the Forever tree. Open the Mage talent calculator after you read the changed rank. A Classic point that sat in a removed talent has nowhere to land. Leave it unspent, or place it in a Forever talent whose rank you have read.

If the talent still exists, the same rank count can stay. Five points in Arcane Focus are still five points, and they now add 1% Arcane hit per rank. Rank 3 is 3% hit. It is not the Classic rank 3 resist reduction of 6%, and it is not half of the Classic rank 5. Where the Forever description is missing, do not assume the Classic effect survived unchanged. Spell ranks follow that same limit in the spell rank guide.

What do you keep from the old build?

Keep Arcane Focus if you want Arcane hit chance. Drop the expectation of the Classic resist effect. Improved Battle Shout cannot receive points in this tree. Battle Shout still has its own spell ranks and listed attack-power bonuses. Share link stores the Forever ranks you rebuilt. It does not store a Classic layout the current tree rejects.

Set the level budget in talent points, levels and prerequisites before you spend those points.
